Mentioned in Dispatches: Poor Suzy – Scarlett Woolfe

Right, I’m not in any way saying that Scarlett Woolfe is trying to sound like Siouxsie and the Banshees. But, I am saying that if you like bands like that, ones that sit somewhere between goth and alternative but never lose sight of the power of pop-infused addiction, you will find lots to love here.

And it is a great song, one that grows from sparse post-punkery into more abrasive, squalling realms and yet somehow never losses its ethereal and otherworldly qualities, even as it gets heavier and darker. Music made with light and shade, power and poise, grace and grit, melody and muscle. Nice.
