When talking about Invitation, the previous single from All Things Automatic, I spoke about how neatly and subtly they blended a hint of 80’s club sophistication with a more forward-thinking, and very much of the now, sound. If Invitation did all that, Miss You does the same, only more so.
These new sonic heights are attained through understatement and a poised delivery, restrained beats, and bubbling, yet distant, electronica. And, upon reflection, perhaps casting them as a band who look, if only in a small way, to the past is doing them a disservice. Given that music is demonstrably cyclical, this band is ahead of the curve, ahead of the pack, perhaps even ahead of their time.
