As I Thank God For This Moment so elegantly and eloquently proved, Annemarie Picerno is an expert at working with established music traditions and alchemically turning them into something both fresh and yet familiar for the modern audience. This time out, alongside Bob McGilpin, she takes country twangs, cool blues licks and folky lilts and turns them into a neo-roots sound for the modern age.

Guitar riffs sashay by, harmonicas wail like distant trains in the dead of night, basses pulse and beats drive the groove as the two vocalists spiral their distinctive vocals around each other, Bob the country crooner, Annemarie the blues powerhouse. And the results are fantastic, everything you loved about the music of the past turned into a song that takes you by the hand and leads you into a bright new roots future.
