New Music of the Day : LXXI – The Voice – Echo Boom Generation

I still consider Echo Boom Generation to be one of rock’s great hopes for the future and their latest release, The Voice, is the perfect example of just why that is. To keep rock moving forward doesn’t take too many tweaks or alterations, just the occasional change of the sheets rather than a whole new bedroom suite and The Boomers are well aware of that. Here they lay down a blues rock groove, the stalwart of the genre since the year dot, pile on the intensity, add memorable vocal hooks and just get the job done. It’s contemporary enough to keep the genre jogging along, traditional enough to not lose any passengers along the way. They prove that you don’t have to hark back to Seventies golden days nor push the format into weird fusion formats, the rock template was defined a long time ago, it’s still valid, still has enough to offer and  Echo Boom Generation continue to ensure it has an exciting and  healthy future. Boom!
