Hitting the sweet spot between rock’s rabble-rousing aggression and alt-pop accessibility and addiction, Light Me Up is instantly contagious. Even the most hard-hearted cynic or entrenched musical tribal follower would be hard pushed not to fall for its raucous charms immediately.

Some songs achieve anthemic status through clever media and marketing, though record company drive and money, just occasionally, a song arrives fully formed, one-foot on the monitor, one fist in the air, a song that kicks arse and cuts the mustard, a real party starter, the perfect floor filler. Well, this is one of those times.

Guitars grind, beats bounce, basses pulse and synth washes fill the air, this is not only a song about having a good time, about releases of energy, about expressing yourself, it is a song that induces all of those things in any who stand before it. Remember when music was this fun, this essential, this powerful, this vibrant? Ratinoff certainly does.
